The seminar invited eight experts who presented the latest developments of sign language interpreting on TV & Media, research findings and its implementation regarding audience understanding, size and placement of the interpreter on TV, and interpreting press conferences in various team combinations and the impact on the deaf communities and the personal experience. The second European seminar on Sign Language Interpreting on TV & Media took place online on 20 November 2021. It brought together 117 participants from 34 countries. Presenters and participants shared and discussed best practices of sign language interpreters working on TV and media.
In between presentations participants met in informal online cafes moderated by colleagues from across the globe, and discussed various topics, such as gender and diversity representation, training for interpreters in media, and audience design. The cafes were held either in English or International Sign.
Participants were also invited to sign up at one of the 5 minute presentation slots during the BarCamp. Six participants presented from across the globe presented on their expertise. All presentations took place on an online conference platform which was open 1 month before the start of the Seminar, till three months after. Which allows all participants to continue to share expertise and resources.
